Where to stay for the Vienna Marathon 2027: best areas

Vienna, Austria · Sun 18 Apr 2027

WhichMarathon guide · Updated 18 Oct 2026

Vienna's U-Bahn links the start and the finish directly, so you can stay central and still get to the start easily.

Where the race starts and finishes

The race starts by the UN complex (the Vienna International Centre) and crosses the Reichsbrücke over the Danube straight away. It finishes on the Ringstraße in the city centre.

Book a room you can cancel. Race-weekend hotels fill up and get pricier, often before entries or ballot results are confirmed. A free-cancellation room holds today's price. If your plans change, cancel it. Every hotel link on this page shows free-cancellation rooms only.

The best areas to stay

1. Innere Stadt (1st district) The old centre, close to the finish. U1 from Stephansplatz goes straight to the start at Kaisermühlen-VIC.
Race morning: U1 to Kaisermühlen-VIC, about 10 minutes.

2. Leopoldstadt (2nd district) Between the start and the centre, near the Prater park, and often better value. On the U1 and U2.
Race morning: U1 to Kaisermühlen-VIC, a few stops.

3. Near the UN (Donaustadt) Walk to the start. Mostly modern business hotels, so less charm, but no transport worries on race morning.

4. Neubau and Mariahilf (6th and 7th districts) Cafés, small shops and the MuseumsQuartier, close to the Ringstraße finish.

Race morning

The U1 to Kaisermühlen-VIC gets very crowded before the start. Leave early. Most big races also ask you to collect your bib in person before race day, so arrive at least the day before.
