Where to stay

Where to stay for the Berlin Marathon 2027: best areas

Berlin, Germany · Sun 26 Sep 2027

WhichMarathon guide · Updated 18 Oct 2026

Berlin has a lot of hotels, but about 50,000 runners and their friends fill them up on race weekend. Ballot results come out in early December, which is late: book a room you can cancel before then.

Where the race starts and finishes

The race starts and finishes in the Tiergarten, the big park in the centre of Berlin. The start is on Straße des 17. Juni and the finish is just after the Brandenburg Gate.

Book a room you can cancel. Race-weekend hotels fill up and get pricier, often before entries or ballot results are confirmed. A free-cancellation room holds today's price. If your plans change, cancel it. Every hotel link on this page shows free-cancellation rooms only.

The best areas to stay

1. Mitte Walk to the start and back from the finish. Central for the museums, Unter den Linden and the sights.
Race morning: Walk, about 10 to 25 minutes.

2. Tiergarten and Moabit (around Hauptbahnhof) Right next to the park, and handy if you arrive by train. Quieter in the evenings.
Race morning: Walk through the park, about 15 to 20 minutes.

3. Charlottenburg Lots of hotels around Zoo station and Kurfürstendamm, often good value. The west end of the Tiergarten is close.

4. Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg Cheaper, younger and livelier, with great food. A longer trip to the start.

Race morning

U-Bahn and S-Bahn stations near the Tiergarten get very busy. Some close or are bypassed during the race, so check the organiser's transport page in race week. Most big races also ask you to collect your bib in person before race day, so arrive at least the day before.
